November is almost here and the White Mountain event for the 13th and 14th is coming together. Hope to see a lot of folks with excited dogs up here for the good times. I just talked with Ann and she will be photographing for Sports Zone, her local paper. Here is a tentative schedule that I thought might work for everyone: Nov 13 - Saturday Nov 14 - Sunday 10 AM - Brunch at Mama Bears in Lakeside 8 AM - Cart run 11:30 - Drive to Los Burros. 10 AM - Wt-pull practice Noon - Set up camp and kick back Noon - Lunch in town 2 PM - Cheryl-time (Training, line making, etc.) 4 PM - Weight-pull training 5PM - Cart run, when cool enough. 7PM - Pot luck dinner 8:30 PM - Iditarod movie w/Bill Coan (Times subject to change) Mama Bears is a neat log cabin restaurant with very good, reasonably priced food across from the Lakeside Forest Service Ranger Station. They have a dirt parking lot that people could discretely drop their dogs at for a quick relief as long as we clean up. Los Burros is a campground along the McNary to Vernon road. I can take everyone that shows up at Mama Bears on a short cut through the Pinetop Country Club. I went out to Los Burros 2 weeks ago. We will be able to mush out of the campground (CG). I'll just have to bring some lumber to cross the one cattle guard in front of the CG and then there are dirt roads for as far as you want to go. I measured out a 3-mile and a 6-mile course with turn-arounds. Quads would work very well out there. The spring at the CG was not running, so folks need to bring water. There is a nice outhouse building there. We should be out there by ourselves at that time of year. It is a neat place, with the old historic ranger station and barn still in place. Cheryl e-mailed me. She has a lot of neat things to share Saturday afternoon. Come and learn, visit, train, and enjoy the White Mountains. I also received an e-mail from Dena about bringing the weight-pull equipment over here. We need to hear from folks who are planning to attend and want to do the weight pull practice so that she doesn't bring the cart over for nothing. Please let us know. Hope to see a lot of you here in a few weeks! (As soon as this little election thing is over). --- Ron
